18 Months

How can it possibly be?! You have turned from a baby to a toddler in front of my eyes. I still can't believe how much you have grown. You have such a wonderful personality that we are getting to know more each and every day. You are energetic, passionate, opinionated, smart, funny, loving, stubborn, and adorable! It is a joy and a challange every day! :)

Those big brown eyes and sly grin can melt my heart every time! You know that Momma is the weakest link in this family and you can pretty much talk her into what you want. This discipline thing is growing me just as much as it is growing you!

You love being the center of attention and having someone play with you or talk to you at all times. In the last month or so, you have really started enjoying songs. Some you learned at home, some at day care, but most of them have motions for you to remember them (and request them) by. In the picture below, you are asking us to sing "rock" otherwise knows as "The Wise Man Built His House Upon The Rock." You also frequently request "tinka" (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), "pida" (Itsy Bitsy Spider), "bebe" (Baby Bumble Bee), and "bonk...ooh ooh ooh" (Five little Monkeys....you know, they fall and bonk their head..hehe). You are so silly and love to make us laugh!

I continue to be amazed at what you learn and how quickly you learn it. You are starting to talk in two-three word phrases that we pretty much can't understand at all unless you are repeat us and we know what to listen for. :) You say "bonked his head" pretty often...again, only recognizable from the context and the fact that you smack yourself on the head while saying it. You also went around all day yesterday saying "Hap Hap-y Bi-day!" to Daddy. So so cute.

Mommy has also been learning a new word this month....DISCIPLINE! You are mischevious, sneaky, and have been testing your limits recently. Everything I read says that this is completely normal at 18 months, but it has been a challenge to say the least. My desire is that you grow up to be a man of God that respects others and displays all the wonderful fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. You have got "joy" down pat, but we are working on all the others! Especially patience and self-control...those are hard for little guys. :) (And big guys if we are being totally honest!)

You continue to be a good eater and sleeper. You are all boy...sticks, rocks, dirt, cars, and motorcycles all get you very excited.

Your NayNaw has been here the last week and a half so that Mommy could work more and get caught up. It has been really hard to be away from you that long. I can't wait for us to get to spend some time together again.

I thank God for giving us the joyous responsibility to raise you and watch you grow. You are teaching me so many things. I am looking forward to many more happy memories, even though it is hard to think about you growing up. I love you so much I am about to burst!

Thanks to Cotton Photography for the great pictures! Love them!

The End :)

Well, there you have it...you know it MUST be true love for folks to refer to themselves as Dodu, Unca, Mammie(Mimi)and Pappy just because that's what Branson Boy calls us! He is truly a joy and blessing to us all. I wish we could capture just one of these days in a bottle to open up in about thirteen years. Love you all, M & P
