Operation Curb Appeal: Part 6 (Plants!!!)

There are no pics of me working because I was home alone, but I was up at 7 this morning planting the last 11 plants. I can almost see how some people view gardening as relaxing. Almost.

An older couple was walking by as I was finishing up the last few plants and the lady said a simple, "it looks pretty." She has no idea what that compliment means to me. I assume that her and her husband have walked by many times and seen our ongoing attempts to make the outside of our home look better. I honestly was expecting people to say things like "those wont grow here" or "you are wasting your time" but a simple "it looks pretty" lifted my spirit. Those negative comments in my head obviously show my fear at my inability to garden and keep these things alive. I am going on faith and prayers that they will make it through this season, much less come back next year like they are suppose to. Only time will tell. :)

I present to you...our new and improved home!

We planted (starting at the corner) crepe myrtle, petra croton, new guinea impatiens (2), silverado sage (2 under the window...pretty purple flowers), lantana (2...my parents have some and it is hardy!), and an oleander on the end. I don't know what those grassy things are under the crepe myrtle because Scott threw away the info tags. Oops! :)

Starting at the end and working forward (mainly for my records if I lose my tags..hehe) oleaner, two mexican heather (i should get a close pic because they are very pretty with small purple flowers), three lemon cream lantana (very light yellow to white flowers), pittosporum (not sure if thats how you spell it, those tags also got "lost"), four pink dwarf Katie Ruellia (never heard of it before but they were pretty), and another pittosporum.

I have a random assortment of leftovers that didnt fit in the garden plus the elephant ears that are getting planted in the backyard. So...the porch is next and we will finally be finished!!

I love it, Scott! Thanks for all your help! (I forgot to mention that he also ran a little sprinkler system with a soaker hose under all of it, so when I forget to water them, they will be ok...hehe)

And thanks to Mammie for watching the boy so we could get this done. We weren't sure when we would get a chance, so this worked out perfectly! I hope ya'll have fun together!

yeah! warning... lantana and oleander are poisonous so don't let the kid play in them! seems everything i want to plant is poisonous... won't be long before you're killing everything like me :) just like cooking, gotta practice to figure it out - shame it's so expensive :)
