One Year Old!

I can't believe it has been a whole year! We are having so much fun with you, Branson Boy! You are bright, curious, funny, passionate, energetic, and loving. Your Daddy and I could not have asked for anything better.

Here are some pictures your Mammie took of you out at ACU. So cute and so much fun. You loved it when Daddy threw you really high into the air (while Mommy sat in the background almost having a heart attack!) :-) The picture looks like you just fell right out of the sky. Our little present from heaven.

You have definate likes and dislikes. Your biggest love right now is being outside. You love playing outside in the rocks, sticks, mud, and water. 100% boy! We could not keep you away from the baptistry water, so you ended up swimming in your diaper for a minute. It was kinda cold, so you didnt want to sit all the way down for very long, but you could have stayed and played for hours!

The speech therapist in me is amazed at how much you have learned in the past month. Your receptive language gets better and better everyday. Your ability to follow simple directions amazes me. (Ex. Go get the ball, put the diaper in the trash, etc.) In my line of work, I see a lot of children who are delayed in their language abilities, so to be around a child whose language is developing normally tends to make me think you are a genius! :-)

Things you dislike include getting changed (clothes or diaper) and going to sleep. You have developed the skill of fighting sleep to perfection, but growing boys need their rest! You are getting much better about taking naps in your crib this month and Mommy is very thankful. I did get a lot of library books read while holding you during your naps, but I didnt get much else done. You are also sleeping 9-11 hours at night and we are loving it!

As far as things you like, eating comes in at a very close second (or maybe even first) to being outside. You have started eating mostly adult food and very little baby food or bottles. You still drink one bottle of milk before going to bed and you and Mommy both enjoy that time together very much. You will eat anything we put in front of you except for lettuce. That is pretty hard to eat without teeth. :-) Speaking of teeth, you still only have two. They are working pretty good for you right now though, so we are happy.

The picture below shows what you do when we say "Touchdown!" It is always accompanied by a huge proud grin and then we all cheer like you just won an Olympic medal. Mammie has claimed you as her football buddy. So funny.

You look so grown up to me, Bubba, and I can hardly believe it has only been a year. Where does the time go?

The picture below shows another of your favorite games: Chase! Daddy was chasing you around and you just smile and laugh. For now, Daddy is still faster. :)

"The Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made: let us rejoice and be glad in it." Ps. 118: 23-24
