First Hospital Visit
I have never spent the night in the hospital before, but here is the story of my first visit. :-)Thursday afternoon I left work early because my stomach hurt really bad and I couldnt figure out why. Luckily, my school had early release at 1:00 for the stockshow, so it wasnt a problem for me to go home. I fell asleep for a little bit and my stomach hurt even worse when I woke up. Finally, I decided to call JoDee's mom, Johnnie Sue, for some advice because she was a labor and delivery nurse for many years. She told me to go ahead and call my doctor...especially since I couldnt tell if I was having contractions or not. First pregnancy...I didnt know! Long story short, the doctor sent me to Labor and Delivery. I was having contractions that were longer and closer together than they wanted, so they gave me something to stop them. It made my heart race like crazy and my hands shake! But, it stopped them for awhile. It turns out that I was also pretty dehydrated which probably had something to do with the contractions starting...oops! (Now I am drinking so much water, I feel like I am going to float away!) Anyway, so they put an IV on me too. I had been there since about 4:30 and about 10:00 that night the contractions started again. They watched me all through the night and didnt send us home until 12:30 on Friday afternoon. The good news is that the did this test that is a pretty good predictor of pre-term labor which came back negative, they did a sonogram and all the fluids looked great, and the contractions haven't caused me to dialate or anything. I have been told to take it easy this weekend and I go back to see the doc on Monday afternoon. Thanks for those who I know are praying for me and our baby! Keep them coming!
